Fun fact
5 years ago on August 12, Andrew and I headed to Moab with our singles ward. That is when it all began. We were together every day after that until we were married. Now, 5 years later we will welcome our 2nd child on the same day. Kind of cute I think.

Last office visit.
Yesterday we went in for our last office visit. That was weird to hear the doctor say "no need to schedule another appointment with me next week. I will just see you at the hospital Thursday, if not earlier." Holy cow we are close!
With the little "leakage" scare we had on Saturday the doctor did a few extra tests to make sure the baby was ok. One thing he did was a quick ultra sound to make sure the fluid levels were safe. How awesome! It was super fun to see our full grown squirt on the big screen. I'm pretty sure he waved at us. It made me super excited to meet him!
All is well. It's just a matter of days at this point.

Ready or not.....
I had one of those "oh my word it's happening soon" moments this weekend. It just hasn't seemed all that real that baby #2 is on his way. 10 days at most!!! This may seem like TMI and a little graphic, so stop reading now if you don't want to read gross words. On Saturday I had this weird gush of fluid fall out of me. With Warren my water broke 2 weeks early so I know what it really feels like and this one wasn't like that. So I wasn't overly concerned but it made me a little cautious. The weird thing was it continued to leak for hours. So around 9:00 pm we decided to call the hospital to see if I should be checked. They told me to come in. So I got all showered and we headed to the hospital around 11:00 pm. Warren was asleep to Andrew stayed in the car with him. I was in the hospital for about an hour and a half. They said I was definitely leaking something. Sometimes at this point in pregnancy you can loose a little fluid, then it stops. Sometimes it means there is a little tear in the sack so be prepared to have the baby at any moment. While I was in the hospital I had 4 super intense contractions. The nurse said she would be surprised if I made it to the 12th.

Sleep
I laid awake for most of the night last night. Why can't I sleep?? Maybe it has something to do with the torn ligament in my upper rib cage that wraps around to my back. Maybe it's going to the bathroom every hour. It could even be the intense leg cramping I have been having. There is a possibility it's a full size baby in my stomach that loves to kick as hard as he can when I lay down. I wonder if it's because I am starting to panic because the big day is only 12 days away.... at most. Whatever it is, I can't sleep to save my life and I am exhausted. I think it's an Ambien night.

Whale
I feel like a whale. Is it possible to get any bigger? I think one of the worst things about being this massive is having to depend on help from other people. I am usually the type that won't ask for help or even take it if offered. Now I can't keep up with Warren. He is WAY faster than I am so I have no choice but to rely on other people for help. I can barely bend over to pick up toys. As much as I wish my house was clean I just can't do it. Part is because I don't have the energy, the other part is because I can't bend or reach a lot of things because my belly is in the way. 17 days...

3 weeks left!!!
We went to the doctor today. It was really weird to schedule my C-Section. It put into perspective how soon this baby will be here. August 12th is the big day, unless my water breaks or I go into labor of course. Crazy.
The appointment went well. I am barely starting to dilate.... sorry if you hate that word, but this is my journal and I'll write what I want..... nothing major though.
Here were my questions for this round:
1. Can I start taking my "baby blue" pills now to help get me ready? YES
I had the baby blues BAD with Warren. I wish someone would have told me to expect it. Apparently most women go through it, but are to embarrassed to admit it. Well, here I am admitting I was miserable for about 4-5 months after Warren was born. Had I known there was a magic pill to cure the depression, we all would have been happier. So, this time around we are getting ready early.
2. Can I go to Bear Lake this weekend? It's not recommended, but I can't hold you here. You run the risk of delivering in a podunk hospital but it's up to you.
So, we are going! Andrew said he'll drive fast if my water breaks.
3. I have been feeling sharp electric shock type pain shooting out my you know what.... Your babies head is right there, of course it can hurt and that's normal. Awesome (sarcasm)
4. I have a crazy pain at the top of my ribs that sometimes hurts so bad I cry. Your baby is kicking hard there. It could either be a cracked rib, or a torn ligament. His tone was kind of a "good luck with that" tone. You only have 3 weeks left.
So, that's it. We are almost there. Time to pack a hospital bag and a bag for Warren. The big difference this time around is I have to think about another child and where he can go while I'm in the hospital. What if my water breaks in the middle of the night.... who do I call?
I only have a few more things to do before baby boy gets here. I guess the biggest thing is decide on a name. Right now the front runners are James, Weston or Edward. I LOVE Edward and call him Eddy. I am just nervous people will think I am a Twilight fan and I can't be more opposite. I hate that crap. Andrew LOVEs Weston but I'm not sold on it. We both like James so that is more than likely what it will be. I guess we'd better decide soon.

The countdown begins
I can't believe we have 25 days left!!! CRAZY. I am super ready physically. Mentally on the other hand, I could probably use more than 25 days. My little What to Expect app on my phone has had 2 updates this week that I think are supposed to help get my butt in gear and ready. The first one was... "You only have 4 weeks left. Pack your hospital bag." Really? It could happen anytime now I guess. The other was "Plan your route to the hospital." I guess the time is closer than I realized.
Here is my physical state: I am so $%#* hot I can't stand it. I seriously can't believe how much sweat I can produce. Sorry if that's TMI, but it's true. I get more and more massive every day so I feel like I get even more hot every day. I have a pinched nerve at the top of each leg so walking is miserable. My ribs hurt so bad I wouldn't be surprised if one was broken. I am so tired and have no motivation to do anything. When does that nesting crap start??? I need it to kick in because I don't care that my house is a wreck right now which is SO not like me.
My mental state: Scared. I am nervous about so many things. I just babysat my brothers 6 week old baby for a couple of days and it was a rude awakening for how it is going to be here soon. I am terrified of the operation I am going to have. I am worried sick about my duties at work. I know the staff can handle it, but do I really want them to? NO. Over the past 8 years I have seen the Utah Open go from being a joke to an event that even PGA Tour members are apparently talking about and some have even called to try to play. I guess I can't do anything about it now, but I hope it all goes well.
I know it always sounds like I am dreading this second baby. I really am excited to meet him and to expand the family. It is just crazy to think that it's really happening.
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. Apparently we get to set an official date for the delivery. We have talked about August 12, but we'll see.

Leg cramps.
I NEVER had leg cramps with Warren. I didn't even know it was a pregnancy symptom until this time around. I get them at the most random times. I got one in the middle of the night last week that was so bad it woke me up. The next day I felt like I had been beaten in the leg. Then the other day we were in out pool. I was just chatting with friends and me feet cramped. If I had been standing on solid ground it would have dropped me for sure. They keep coming and going. Some more mild than others, but any way you slice it it's obnoxious.

Humiliation
There are many things about being pregnant that can bring on humiliation. I have experienced a couple in the last few days.
1. I have peed my pants. Luckily at home so I could change. You ask how is that possible?? Well, when your baby is squashing your bladder while at the same time using it as a punching bag, it sometimes leaves you seconds to get to the restroom and I just didn't make it. Yes... I am sensitive about it.
2. I fell out of bed. You know when you get big enough it is hard to sit up to swing your legs off the bed to get out??? Well, I am there so I try to roll out. The bed we have now is a bit higher than the one we had when I was pregnant with Warren. The rolling out didn't work as well this time around. Yes... funny but embarrassing. At least Andrew was the only one who saw it.

30 week and glucose appointment
Today's appointment was long, but it went well. I had to do the second glucose test which was 3 hours. I had to go in fasting which made me sick, then they gave me that drink thing which made me even more sick. After a few blood tests I was REALLY sick. But, the good news is I passed. No need for the gestational shot!! Wahoo!
I have gained 3 pounds in 3 weeks. Awesome (sarcasm). I can't wait to get my massive butt out running again. The baby is facing down and will probably stay that way for the duration. I guess it doesn't matter since I have to have a c-section, but he's in the right position anyway. The doctor guesses he's about 3 1/2 to 4 lbs at this point and said "be ready for a big baby". Warren was only 6 lbs. 14 oz, so a big baby would be a little change. Everything checked out ok. We are to the point where I see the doctor every 2 weeks. I think time is going to fly.... I am certainly not ready so it's time to get my butt in gear because this little squirt will be here before we know it. At least I know I have time. Unlike my brother who got a call from his adoption agency on MOnday night saying he'd have a baby that next Wednesday.

I failed.
I have had the words "you failed" said to me two times in my life. Both thanks to my lovely children. I failed my glucose test yesterday. Could it be the fact that I can't get enough sugar when I am pregnant? I could eat an entire bag of marshmellows for dinner. I LOVE ice cream more than ever. I have been known to scoop out a spoon full of frosting and eat it from the can.... maybe even a couple of spoon fulls. I realize this has multiple consequences, but when a pregnant girl wants something.... GIVE IT TO HER. Consequences don't mean as much to me when I'm pregnant. Well, they were clear yesterday about this consequence. I have to go back to the doctor next week and sit for 3 hours. I have to fast before I go and get blood taken 4 times. LAME! I had to go back a second time with Warren too. Luckily I passed the second one. If I don't pass this time, I have to get shots every day. I have a few phobias in my life. Needles are one of them. I have been known to pass out in the chair before they even stick me for blood just because I am so scared.
PRAY FOR ME!!!
PRAY FOR ME!!!

Turtle
I know I said I would try to complain less, so let's look at this as an observation instead of a complaint. I feel like a turtle lately. I usually run on one speed.... fast. I can usually clean my entire house from top to bottom and make it shine like the top of the Chrysler Building in 3 hours no problem. Now that we are in the beautiful trimester number three I feel like I can't do anything at a speed other than slow. It's driving me nuts. I think it's a combo of my ever growing mid section with a complete energy zap. If I clean one room in a day I feel like I have conquered all. Now I just hope to get toys put away before I go to sleep. I just cleaned my kitchen. It took about 30 minutes and all I can think about now is getting a nap. I think it's time to bring in the Molly Maids.

Sleep
How is it possible to be so incredibly exhausted, but still unable to sleep? Warren has been napping for 3 hours now. I have tried to do the same but can't do it. I am lucky if I get 4 hours at night. I am uncomfortable, but not enough to keep me awake yet. I think it's nerves.

27 Week Check Up
Besides the fact that we waited almost 2 hours to see the doctor, this visit went well. Here were some of the questions we had...
Q. If I lift something heavy (like my 35 lb. 2 year old) will it cause harm to the baby, or just me?
A. It won't hurt the unborn baby. It could just cause me to pull something and put me in bed, so be careful. How do I not life my little angel when he's looking up at me with massive blue eyes saying "hold you mommy, hold you!"
Q. How much Diet Coke can I really drink??
A. His answer was actually funny. "You tell me how much you want and I'll tell you if it's too much." I told him when I'm not pregnant I can easily do 6-10 a day. He said it really won't harm the baby at this point. Where it can cause problems is in the beginning where it can cause miscarriages. Now that I am well beyond that point, 2-3 is fine. If I have a bad day and need 4 we will all be ok. Fabulous news!
Q. You said you would deliver me at least a week early... what are the chances it can be sooner? I have a golf tournament to get to.
A. Again, with a chuckle.... we may be able to fib it a day or two more. So in my mind what he said is plan on it.
Q. How long after the surgery/delivery before I can drive?
A. 2 weeks..... followed up by another question from me?
Q. How strict is that rule?
A. Why, do you have somewhere you need to go?
Me: Yes, the Utah Open.
So to sum up the delivery/ drive thing.... I should be able to go to the Utah Open if all goes as planned.
Q. I am having a tough time breathing. Especially when I yawn it sounds like I am choking to death. Is that weird?
A. No. Your baby is already 15" long and your uterus is the size of a basketball. It tends to crowd your lungs.
Q. Is it possible this baby has already taken up residency in my ribs... I still have 3 months to go you know.
A. Yes, he is making his way there. He if facing up and down as opposed to sideways. SO, no wonder I can't slouch or breath or get comfortable no matter what I do.
He also told me about labor pains... since I have never felt real labor. With Warren my water broke 2 weeks early. So I was medicated before it all really started. Granted, I was in labor for 22 hours and my epidural wore off a couple of times, but I have never been at home or away from a hospital experiencing true labor. I never even had those Braxton Hicks things with Warren. He told us what to look for....... weird to be thinking about that already.

On our way out they gave me a bag with a bunch of info on pregnancy, nursing yada yada. There was a formula sample (wahoo since I don't nurse, I'll need all of those I can get my hands on). But, the best part was the tiny little new born diaper that was in there. Oh my word, my fist is bigger. It got me super excited!

Amazing
This pregnancy has seemed so much different than my last. I realize I seem more complacent than the first time around. I think it is a combination of us not really being ready for baby #2 and the amount of responsibility we have now versus the last time. Now I have a 2 1/2 year old that needs constant supervision. He wants to be held, and that is getting more and more difficult. We own a business that we didn't when I got pregnant with Warren which brings on a whole new meaning of stress. I almost don't think about being pregnant as much as I did last time. I will be honest, life is so overwhelming to me right now the only time I think about this little guy is when he is kicking, or my body hurts so bad I can't go any further. Well, in the past week I have become very excited to meet him. As exciting as it is to feel this little squirt kick, it is a whole new ball game when we get to SEE him kick. Watching my stomach go up and down and all around is incredible. I have a feeling he will be active like his brother. Warren needs someone to keep up with him. So, after seeing this little guy in action this week I will try to be less of a complainer and more grateful for the little miracle that is less than 3 months away from making his big entrance!

Aching
Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I just put in a 52 hour week and it's only Friday afternoon (I love high school golf), but I am super achy (is that a word) today. My entire mid section hurts. My hips feel like they are bone on bone and I have lost any cartilage that was ever there. My back feels like it is one bend away from giving out. My head feels like I have been hit about 42 times with a baseball bat. I can't sleep to save my life. I am so exhausted I can hardly see straight. I can't cross my legs because the combination of enlarging thighs and my gutt doubling in size this week. Maybe next week will be better.

Oh my!!
My brother stopped by to see me at work yesterday. He was sitting in my office and we were talking about the summer. He was telling me about all of the trips he had scheduled. I volunteered to take his daughter for one towards the end of July..... he said "Ummmm, aren't you going to be like 8 1/2 months pregnant then?" Oh my word I thought. It is really happening. In about 90 days I will have 2 kids. I started to really think about the major surgery I get to have to bring this little squirt to the world. The last c-section I had wasn't planned, so I didn't have any time to really think about what was going on. Plus after 22 hours of labor and my blood pressure shooting though the roof I had slipped into shock a little and was so medicated I wasn't fully aware of what was going on. This time I will be much more alert and aware that I am laying on an operating table completely naked with about 15 people in the room while I am being cut in half to have a baby pulled out of me. Kind of made me panic a bit.

"With it"
I miss feeling "with it". I used to be the type of person you would never have to ask twice to do something. I had the opposite problem of procrastination. The second I thought of doing something, I would do it. I never forgot anything. I felt like I had my job so under control there wasn't anything I couldn't do. Every time I am pregnant, I feel less and less "with it". I have never felt more scattered and overwhelmed then I do right now. I know it doesn't get any better once you have the baby either. My cousin Kaysie told me after Warren was born and I was complaining about how different my mind felt she said "didn't you know you birth part of your brain with every child?" It is SO true. I don't want to stop growing our family with 2 kids, but I don't have much brain power left to spare!! My doctor made a great point. Before kids all you had to really think about was yourself, spouse and job. Now with a child, you think about them as much as the other things combined so you don't feel as on top of things that you were before. I guess it's a good trade. Kids for your brain.

23 Week Dr. Visit
How's this for the start of a visit????........
I hate that they put you on the scale right out of the gates. It only makes it worse when the nurse said "oh my, big month for you!" Yep. It took a lot to hold back the tears. I can guarantee my neighbors will see me out walking more often in the next few months!!! If anyone would like to join me, let me know.

Momma's got back.....
I can't believe how incredibly large I feel today. The thing that sucks though is it's not just my stomach. I am not sporting that cute little basketball shaped stomach like many women do. My entire body is expanding. I don't think my butt could possibly get any bigger. The only thing that doesn't seem to be getting bigger on my body right now is my eyeballs. Everything else from my hands, feet, legs, butt, everything is growing. I wasn't ever this self conscious about my size with Warren. I guess since I was working so hard to drop weight before I got pregnant with this guy, I am a little more aware. I look like I could deliver tomorrow.

Feet
Yesterday was a funny pregnant day. I put my shoes on and thought.... no way. How are these tight already? I still have 4 months to go!!! With Warren, the only time my feet got swollen was during the Utah Open, and then when I had 1 week to go. During the Utah Open I was 7 months pregnant and on my feet 15-18 hours a day so it was expected. Then when he was just about 3 weeks from being due and we decided to buy a house and move in. So again, on my feet a lot.
This time around, they don't really look swollen. They just feel bigger. By the end of the day yesterday my shoes were were killing me. I wasn't on my feet very much so I thought it was weird..... until I ready my daily pregnancy note.
I have an awesome app on my iphone. It's a What to Expect app. I get a daily and weekly update. So last night I got in bed and was reading my daily update. How funny that the title would be FEET. It said that it's very common for a woman's feet to grow during pregnancy. Usually a half to full size. Pretty sure that's happening to me. It was interesting to hear the same thing that happens to your pelvic bones with softening and growing happens to your feet, and they don't go back down in size. So, I guess a new shoe wardrobe is in my future! Good for me I guess. People have always made fun of my feet. A size 5 is usually a little big for me. My brother always asks how I can balance on my "hooves". So maybe one day I will have normal sized feet.

No News is Good News
I haven't had much to post on this little pregnancy blog over the past few weeks. For the most part I have felt great. The last couple of days however, I seem to be getting more and more pregnant. The extra weight I am packing around, especially up stairs is getting difficult. My hips KILL. I can't sleep to save my life. I think that is a combo of aching hips and anxiety bursting at the seems. I lay awake at night thinking about a billion things. Anywhere from what I have to do the next day to what I have to get done in the next 120 days. It drives me nuts, but I can't turn my mind off. I can't turn it off on a regular day, but my pregnant brain is even more wired.
The other thing that is showing true signs of pregnancy is how short my temper is. I have been super snappy and I seriously can't help it. It's like my nerves are a tenth the size they usually are. I feel especially bad for Andrew because he is dealing with it every single day. Nothing is funny to me lately. I really don't have a sense of humor to begin with, but it is way worse when I am pregnant. I'm a no nonsense, get 'er done type of girl. The other day I was talking to my sister-in-law Lori. She is one of the only people who thinks my no nonsense attitude is funny. We were talking about texting and how I got a stupid text from someone the other day and I said, not thinking it was funny or anything "if you don't have good information, or what you have to say is going to waste my time, don't bother me with it." She broke into hysterics and said "Oh, my gosh. I LOVE the pregnant Annie." I'm glad someone does because I can't help being so grumpy and snappy. It is what it is.

Cravings
When I was pregnant with Warren, I don't remember having intense cravings. There were things I really wanted, and things I really didn't want but it wasn't crazy. This time around is SO different. There have been times that I will stop everything I am doing to go get a slurpee. I can't stop thinking about Girl Scout Samoa cookies. I could eat an entire bag of cheese doritos in one sitting. I easily go to Blimpe 3 times a week for a turkey sandwich. Paradise Bakery crumbly blue cheese salads are a weekly must. I haven't been to Einstein's since high school, now it's at least once a week. For anyone who knows me well, you know that when I'm not pregnant, all I drink is Diet Coke. It's easily 6-8 a day. I had to find a good substitute. Chick Fil A Lemonade is Fabulous filler for the time being. The other things I want to eat by the truck loads are jelly beans, Costco granola snack mix, capn' crunch, oranges, peaches, clausen brand pickles and ice cream.
So much for the 40 lbs I lost before I got pregnant. Here it comes again.

Check Up.
We went for our monthly check up this week. I love going in and making sure all is well. I have been feeling so good lately, it made me think for sure something is wrong with the baby. Not so. All is well. His heart beat is nice and strong. He was kicking like crazy. I did find out that my placenta is up front. That isn't a good or a bad thing. It just means I probably won't feel him kick as much.
It is so much fun to see the baby on the ultra sound. I love seeing that little miracle growing so quickly. It's amazing that 19 weeks ago he was just a little cell that you could barely see even under a microscope. Now he is almost a full pound and roughly 7-8 inches long. It was confirmed that he's a boy. It was so funny. The tech asked if we wanted to know the gender and we said, of course (even though we already knew!!) She said "does the fact that he's grabbing himself inbetween his legs give you a clue? Apparently it starts early in the womb. Boys will be boys." Pretty funny. It looks like all fingers and all toes are there. His organs looks great. I am going to guess from what I could see that he has the "Fisher nose." Andrew and Warren both have it. So cute. It was a big relief to see him moving around and looking healthy.
So that's it for this update. Not a lot to report. I guess that's a good thing!

The feeling of panic.
When I logged onto my blog this morning and saw my little floating baby ticker with a big bold 145 days left on there, I panicked a bit. ONLY 145 DAYS!!! I'd better get my act together because there is a lot to do. To be quite honest, the past couple of weeks I haven't been thinking about this little squirt constantly.
Sure, I have the reminders like aching hips, the fact that I am so big you would think I should be delivering next week, I have that constant feeling of hunger and my face looks like I have chicken pox.
Other than that I have been feeling great. I am not too tired. I haven't felt nauseated at all. I have actually had a little motivation to get a few things done. If I take my Tylenol PM I sleep like a champ. I can still touch my toes!! There are still a few non-maternity things in my closet that fit. I can still jog a couple of miles without complaint. Really, I'm in pretty good shape other than the fact that there is not all that much time left. I may be singing a different tune in the not so distant future, but for now I feel like there's not enough time!
So much to do, so little time. At least we made good progress on construction project number one this past weekend (laundry room/ office/ craft room). Hopefully it will be done in the next week or two. Then we can start on the nursery. Who knows, maybe our kitchen will be done by the time the baby is born. Say a little prayer for me!

Salute to my skinny friends.
Dear Skinny Friends (You know who you are),
I just wanted to let you all know how proud I am of you for being so freakin' cute when you are pregnant. I am even more proud of you for not having to put maternity clothes, especially pants on until you are 7, 8 and some of you even 9 months pregnant. That is an outstanding accomplishment.
I can't do it anymore. I can't be jealous of your little bodies and you ability to fit in your jeans on your way in and out of the hospital when you deliver. I woke up this morning ready to bust out the maternity clothes. I realize I am only 4 months pregnant, but I can't pretend like I am comfortable in my regular pants anymore.
This little squirt growing inside of me is only about 5 inches long. He is apparently only growing in my stomach area, but you wouldn't know it by the look of my badonadonk butt growing behind me. How is it that this little person is even making things like my earlobes and random body parts grow? Again, I am so thrilled for those of you who only have your babies grow in your stomach area. My little guy is growing ALL OVER!!!!!!!!
I love all of you girls, even though you are skinny. I just can't live in that dream world anymore. So bring on the maternity clothes and comfort. I officially surrender to my ever growing body.
Love,
Annie.

I could go without.
If there was one pregnancy symptom I could get rid of it would be the zits. I would trade them for nausea, barfing or exhaustion any day.

Seriously???
I have gone potty 5 times in the past hour. No exaggeration! I did run 3 miles this morning and had 2 full bottles of water, but really? It's getting obnoxious.

15 Weeks
Whooa! I may not be tooting this horn later on, but I can't believe how fast this is going by. I look at my little count down ticker and can't believe we only have 168 days to get ready!
So here is the positive bit for this week. I woke up Saturday feeling better than I have in a LONG time. I had energy, no sign of nausea and I even had a bit of motivation mixed in there. I cleaned my entire house. Did all of the laundry. Washed all the sheets and towels. We even started our construction project on our laundry room.
Sunday morning I woke up realizing I had propbably pushed it a little too much. I was exhausted. I didn't want to do anything but sit. By the end of the day, my hips hurt so bad. Can I assume they are opening up already to make room for our little guy? I seriously felt like I had run 8 miles without stopping and then didn't stretch (and we all know I'm not running 8 miles right now!)
Really, that's it for this week. Nothing extreme. No big news. I just feel great and can't ask for much more right now.

BOY!!!!
I know when someone asks if you want a boy or a girls you are just supposed to say "As long as it's healthy, I'll be happy." Well, true to a point. Of course I hope for a healthy baby, but I really, really wanted a boy. For SO many reasons. One, I think it's nice to have the same gender right next to each other. It makes it easier to share clothes. We don't have to buy new bedding or car seats or anything like that. It's easier to have them share a room. It is probably easier for them to play together. I know if we were having a girl Warren wouldn't play dolls with her. These two will have a lot of fun playing trucks and cowboys and Indians.
I have always known I was going to be a mother of boys. I am way more into sports than dance. I don't know how to do hair. The frills of baby girls are fun, but I don't know how well I would do with the emotions of a girl when she gets older. I know I would adapt. I hope for Andrew's sake we get a girls at some point because he really wants a girl. For now, we are THRILLED that baby #2 is a boy!
We LOVE Fetal Foto. Since I have never been a patient person, it's perfect for me. You can find out the sex of the baby at 14 weeks. Plus you get all sorts of pictures and a DVD. Worth every penny if you ask me. I love to make plans for our new little person. I think it spreads out the excitement too. It's exciting to find out what kind of baby you are having now. At 18 weeks you get to verify. And when the baby is born you get the excitement of counting toes, fingers and checking to make sure all their parts are in the right place.
I am so happy that this was a good post. I feel like lately I have been making grumpy posts, so it was a nice change for me to write with excitement.
I put this on my other blog, but here it is again so I have it all in one place:
Last night was so much fun in so many ways. Of course it was amazing to see out little squirt on the big screen. To be quite honest though, the best part was my little Warren, standing on a stool next to the bed holding my hand. He seemed a little concerned because he didn't really know what was going on. He kept asking "mommy, are you ok?" The best part came when we said "Warren, you are going to have a brother!" He put both arms in the air and jumped off the stool with such joy yelling "yeah, a brother. brother, yeah!"
It may be hard to tell on these pictures, but it is FOR SURE a boy. He was super proud of himself too. Kept spreading eagle to make sure we knew there were spare parts there. He was thrilled to show his manhood. It was almost like watching Warren's ultra sound again. I think they are going to be so much alike!

Talk about scary.
We went in for my 14 week appointment today. I can't remember being as scared as I was today. After this past weekend, I was already a little concerned. The nurse got her little machine to hear the babies heart beat. Andrew was over in the corner listening. We didn't hear anything. No one said a word. Andrew doesn't look nervous very often. Today he did. After a few minutes I finally said "am I the only one panicking here?" The nurse said in the most calm voice "don't worry, let's just go to the ultra sound room." I asked her if she is trained to be calm in these situations. She just chuckled a little. I laid down on the table for the ultra sound. My heart was beating. I was trying not to cry. Andrew was looking a little nervous which made me nervous because he's usually the calm optimistic one in the family.
Our little stinker is so far back, and he (I'm convinced it's a boy) was so squirmy it was hard to hear the heart beat. (Awesome, another off the wall energetic child!) Once she saw where the baby was, she jabbed that machine in my stomach so hard to pick up the sound. Fhhheeewww. That was the best sound EVER.
So, the positive of this situation.... We were able to see the baby today. AND, if he continues to hide in my back, it will be a painful pregnancy but we might get to see him more often on the screen!

Scary.
I think pregnancy is one of the scariest times of my life. There are so many thoughts that have been running through my head. When I first heard I was pregnant I was terrified with the timing. Now I am so excited. The timing will work out just fine and we couldn't be happier about growing our little family. Now I have other things to be scared about.
Friday afternoon I started to get some super bad cramps. I tried to brush it off. I have also had some wierd blacking out that has made me nervous. There is a lot going on in my body right now. Maybe the pain is just my uterus growing or moving. Could it be that massive clump of cysts I have on my ovaries causing some cramping? I also have a condition called interstitial cystitis. In English that means a cronic bladder infection. I was diagnosed with it when I was 18 and it's so much fun (sarcasim).
Anyway, I was trying to come up with any reason in the book why I way cramping. Anything other than something being wrong with the baby. Well, Saturday morning rolled around and it was SO MUCH WORSE. Andrew was working and I was trying my best not to let him know how bad it was so he wouldn't worry. I was in bed a good part of the morning. There were times I laid there thinking "if I have to go to the hospital, Andrew can meet me there but who am I going to call to come get Warren?" It was that bad. I didn't even shower until 10am and for anyone who knows me, you know that means something was way off. If I am in bed past 7am it's been a late morning. I just couldn't get going. So, I tried to survive the morning and tried to keep Warren as happy as possible while feeling like crap.
I had a baby shower to go to at 11:00. If it hadn't been such a good friend, I would have missed it. But I wanted/needed to be there. So I got in the shower and made an attempt to get ready. At this point I hadn't cried at all. Andrew got home around 10:45am and said the words that will always make a woman cry. "Are you ok?" He didn't even really know what was going on, just that something was going on. I lost it. I cried so hard for like 10 minutes and couldn't even tell him what was going on. Finally I let him know how scared I was. As always, he knew exactly what to say. He calmed me down, and helped me get ready so I could get out the door.
Having a baby growing inside of you, but not knowing how it is doing is so scary to me. I all day long I wonder if it's little heart is stil beating. Is it growing the way it should? Am I doing everything I should be doing?
So, I made it to lunch with my friends. When they asked how I was feeling I told them I was cramping and their faces kind of looked concerned. They told me to call the doctor. But it's a Saturday...... I know there is that on-call Doctor option, but I always feel silly bothering them with something like this. I was reminded how much we pay them and that a phone call shouldn't be a concern.
I got in my car after lunch and decided to call. What could it hurt... right? The after hours service asked me a few questions then told me the oncall doctor would get back to me shortly. About an hour later (does that count as shortly?) I got a call. Here's how it went:
Doc: "Hi, this is doctor so and so (he was so grumpy I couldn't understand what his name was) you paged?"
Me: "Oh, hi. Thanks for calling back. Sorry to bother you on a Saturday, I am just a little concerned right now. I'm 14 weeks pregnant and have had some super cramping for about a day now."
Doc: Is this your first pregnancy?
Me: No, second.
Doc: Are you bleeding?
Me: No. But I have been blacking out. 4 times this week.
Doc: Well, do you think that is realted to the cramping?
Me: (IN MY HEAD I THOUGHT, I don't know you grumpy SOB, you tell me!) But, the polite me said, I'm not sure. I've had enough to drink and eat. I just don't know what's going on.
Doc: If you're not bleeding, and don't have chills your probably just tired. Stay in bed as much as possible, stay hydrated and call your own doctor on Monday to follow up.
Me: Ummm, ok. Thanks.
Doc: Sure, click.
What a d-bag. Just because you have the word doctor infront of your name it doesn't give you the right to act better than everyone else. I am sorry if I interupted your ski day, or round of golf or whatever the heck you were doing, but I am a patient who needed some help and he didn't have to be such a jerk. Honestly it took so much for me to even call in the first place. I can't wait to tell my doctor on Monday what an a-hole he has on his on-call list. And, if something is wrong with this baby that doctor will hear from me again, but not the polite me.
So, here I am. Sunday morning. Still scared. But without bleeding apparently they don't want to check you out at the hospital. After all of this, it's probably nothing. Just my overactive mind making it worse than it really is. I guess we will see tomorrow when I get to see my real doctor.

Is it normal???
Is it normal to have random black outs while you are pregnant? I was standing in line at McDonald's yesterday and could feel myself getting close to passing out. I sat at a table and laid my head down. I blacked out for a minute then I was fine. The same thing happened to my this morning. I can't remember this happening with my last pregnancy. Is it normal?
I got punk'd
So last week I hit the wonderful second trimester mark. You know, the one where you are supposed to feel your best. I really thought I had made it over the hump. I was feeling great. I didn't even feel pregnant for about 4 days. I felt normal. I even played golf!! I was SO excited to be over the nausea, tired, grumpy rut I was in. Well, I got punk'd. For the past 4 days I feel like crap. Tired, like I want to barf all day, grumpy. irritable and worst of all FAT. I really look like I have just put on 10 lbs. of fat, not pregnant. Not a fun place to be.

Just Ugly.
I am having a very ugly day today. My pants are getting tighter by the minute, so I feel super fat. I have more zits now than I did in high school. My skin is whiter than snow. At least I just got my hair done, lashes dyed and brows waxed. It helped a bit, but I still feel like I want to climb in a hole and hide for the next 6 months.

Of course, today would be the day.
When I was pregnant with Warren, I didn't throw up once until after I had him. Then I threw up for 4 days straight. It was awesome... (sarcasim). This pregnancy has so far been much the same. Just feeling like I am going to throw up all day, but never do. Well, this morning it all changed. And of course it had to be today. I got up extra early to get out the door on time because we had a board meeting at work. I was feeling super sick, hot and dizzy. I tried to eat a banana to help my stomach, but it did the opposite. About 5 minutes later, it came back up. Luckily I didn't get anything on my clothes. So.... a little tooth brush, a make-up touch-up and I was out the door. I still feel like crap though.

Little Reminder
With this pregnancy I really haven't been "sick". I hear the horror stories of some girls who throw up 20 times a day. I haven't thrown up at all. I have had days where I feel like I am going to throw up all day, but never do. I have felt exhausted but nothing I can't handle. I was feeling great last week. Almost to the point it worried me. If I was feeling ok, was something wrong with the baby? Yesterday I had a nice reminder that I'm pregnant. I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. I did manage to get some shoes on long enough to make it to my in-laws for a quick dinner. It was a horrible day, but a good reminder.

Feeling Horrible.
I am feeling so horrible today. I am such a bad person. I want the world to know that I am super excited about this baby. Yes, it was a bit of a shock to find out I was pregnant. It took me awhile to absorb it and a little longer to be really be excited, but I am. I just found out that a friend of mine mis-carried a baby. Here I have been complaining that I am tired and grumpy and the baby hasn't picked the best due date... all while my friend was going through her mis-carriage. I'm a horrible person.

Week 10- First Official Check Up
I had my first official check up this week. I have been in to see the doctor, but that was for an early ultra sound. I have such horrible ovarian cysts, they needed to check everything out earlier.
This week was the visit where they weight you (uugghh) and ask you all the basic questions. Do you smoke, drink, family health history yada, yada. I had a few questions of my own. So I am going to list them. Maybe on my next pregnancy I won't have to ask so many. I can just go back and read!
Q1. I had to start with the "Have you ever had a patient say their clothes are already getting tight at 10 weeks?"
A2. With a little chuckle to start "most of my patients who are pregnant for the second time are convinced it's twins because they start showing so much earlier and they usually get bigger over the pregnancy as a whole."
Well, we know it's not twins so I'd better lay off the Cheetos and Little Debbie snack cakes! Especailly after dropping 40 pounds in the past year. I don't want to have to do that again after this baby.
Q2. What can I do if I have been having heartburn from hell?
A2. You can take Tums all day long. He also recommended Prilosec OTC or Prevacid daily.
Q3. Unless I take a Unisom of Tylenol PM, I don't sleep. How often can I take that?
A3. Neither are habit forming. I can take something every night. I am just supposed to switch it up. When I finish a box of one, switch to the other.
Q4. I have been SO tired that if I am driving, I have been tempted to pull over and take a nap. I have a really tough time getting up and going.
A4. Simple answer. First trimester fatigue. It should stop by week 14.
Q5. What can I do for pregnancy skin. These zits are driving me nuts.
A5. There's not a lot you can do for acne during pregnancy. You can't use any of the topical creams and you certainly can't take a pill. He gave me a prescription for some special wash and said good luck!
Q6. I have had a weird numb spot in the middle of my back. Is it cancer... am I dying?
A6. Again, a little laugh and then he said it's just pressure from the pregnancy. Really, only 10 weeks in and I can feel that already? I guess so!
Q7. Is shortness of breath common this early?
A7. Yes. your diaphragm is already being crowded. A lot of women develop anxiety during pregnancy too which can be part of it. Since I already have high anxiety, pregnant or not and I can't take my meds right now, I'm going with anxiety!
Q8. If for some reason I muster up the energy to go for a run, is it ok?
A8. Yes. As long as your body is used to a certain exercise, and you don't get to the point that you can't talk and work out at the same time, it's ok.
Then I got the weight gain talk. You know.... the reminder that you are not really eating for 2 so be careful. Your baby only needs an extra 150-200 calories a day so don't over do it.
Q9. The question that I really didn't want to ask.... so you may not want to read it. My digestive track is way off. What can I take?
A9. Colace. Correctol is you have to, but try to avoid it.
Q10. Although I feel a little nauseated every once in awhile, I'm not really "sick". Should I be concerned?
A10. No, count your blessings.
The exciting things he told me...
1. I should feel this little squirt in the next couple of weeks.
2. With the history of my last delivery, I need to be scheduled for a C-Section at least one week early. (So maybe I can go to the Utah Open after all).
3. Don't over do it and sleep as much as I can. If Warren is asleep, I should be sleeping or at least relaxing.
The bummer thing he told me, but I already knew it. Only one Diet Coke a day. I found a good replacement though. Chick Fil A diet lemonade. I might go get one every day!

Week Ten
Here we go. The start of week ten. The only thing I have to post right now is how dang fat I feel. I am at that super horrible stage of not showing, but starting to noticably fat. I think it's a bit worse for me since I just lost 40lbs and now about to put it back on. Do people who don't know I am pregnant talk behind my back about the weight I have put on? My pants are so tight all I want to do is put on sweat pants.
Ok, here is my quick little confession. You should see my pantry. It is overflowing with junk food. SO, I can't blame it all on water weight and a growing baby. I can blame it on the hormones though. I have been craving junk food. In the past week I have bought Little Debbie Snack Cakes, Cheetos, Ruffles and quite a bit of Valentines. I have been downing sugar cereal like crazy and I am loving Velveeta Shells and Cheese. I need to be careful. Can't blame it all onthe baby.

Post numero uno
Ok, here we go. This is my new lay it all out there blog. The kind where I put my polite self aside and write what I am really thinking and about how I really feel. The next 7 ish months will be about pregnancy.
I feel like I am pregnant for the first time. Has it really been that long since I was pregnant with Warren? Long enough to forget just about everything?? Any little pain, or any "symptom" I have I question.. is that normal? Is the baby ok?
To be quite honest the past week and a half or so, I haven't' felt a bit nauseated. It has given me a bit of concern. Does that mean something is wrong? Then I realize how dang tired I am and realize I am still pregnant. Almost every day this week I have felt like I have taken an Ambien before I start my day. I get a bit nervous to drive!! I am that tired.
I have NO desire to do house work. This may seem normal for some. For me, very strange. I am the type that if I am home, I am usually cleaning, organizing or doing laundry and I really enjoy it. Now all I can do is get one small mandatory task done, like change Warren's diaper or feed him and get back to the couch!! I am excited for my appointment on Monday. Maybe the doc will give me a little iron shot. I need something.
Here is the other thing that reminds me there is a little person growing inside of me. My nerves are almost a tenth the size they usually are. This symptom makes me feel more bad for Andrew than myself. Everything bugs me. Things that I wouldn't ever even notice have now become more like nails on a chalk board. Listening to people eat, chew gum and tap fingers can through me over the edge. People seem louder lately as a whole. Maybe this one is a combo of how freaking tired I am plus a roller coaster of hormones rushing through me.
So, that is the kick off post. My plan is to do at least a weekly update. We'll see how that goes.
