BOY!!!!

I know when someone asks if you want a boy or a girls you are just supposed to say "As long as it's healthy, I'll be happy." Well, true to a point. Of course I hope for a healthy baby, but I really, really wanted a boy. For SO many reasons. One, I think it's nice to have the same gender right next to each other. It makes it easier to share clothes. We don't have to buy new bedding or car seats or anything like that. It's easier to have them share a room. It is probably easier for them to play together. I know if we were having a girl Warren wouldn't play dolls with her. These two will have a lot of fun playing trucks and cowboys and Indians.

I have always known I was going to be a mother of boys. I am way more into sports than dance. I don't know how to do hair. The frills of baby girls are fun, but I don't know how well I would do with the emotions of a girl when she gets older. I know I would adapt. I hope for Andrew's sake we get a girls at some point because he really wants a girl. For now, we are THRILLED that baby #2 is a boy!

We LOVE Fetal Foto. Since I have never been a patient person, it's perfect for me. You can find out the sex of the baby at 14 weeks. Plus you get all sorts of pictures and a DVD. Worth every penny if you ask me. I love to make plans for our new little person. I think it spreads out the excitement too. It's exciting to find out what kind of baby you are having now. At 18 weeks you get to verify. And when the baby is born you get the excitement of counting toes, fingers and checking to make sure all their parts are in the right place.

I am so happy that this was a good post. I feel like lately I have been making grumpy posts, so it was a nice change for me to write with excitement.

I put this on my other blog, but here it is again so I have it all in one place:

Last night was so much fun in so many ways. Of course it was amazing to see out little squirt on the big screen. To be quite honest though, the best part was my little Warren, standing on a stool next to the bed holding my hand. He seemed a little concerned because he didn't really know what was going on. He kept asking "mommy, are you ok?" The best part came when we said "Warren, you are going to have a brother!" He put both arms in the air and jumped off the stool with such joy yelling "yeah, a brother. brother, yeah!"
It may be hard to tell on these pictures, but it is FOR SURE a boy. He was super proud of himself too. Kept spreading eagle to make sure we knew there were spare parts there. He was thrilled to show his manhood. It was almost like watching Warren's ultra sound again. I think they are going to be so much alike!

Talk about scary.

We went in for my 14 week appointment today. I can't remember being as scared as I was today. After this past weekend, I was already a little concerned. The nurse got her little machine to hear the babies heart beat. Andrew was over in the corner listening. We didn't hear anything. No one said a word. Andrew doesn't look nervous very often. Today he did. After a few minutes I finally said "am I the only one panicking here?" The nurse said in the most calm voice "don't worry, let's just go to the ultra sound room." I asked her if she is trained to be calm in these situations. She just chuckled a little. I laid down on the table for the ultra sound. My heart was beating. I was trying not to cry. Andrew was looking a little nervous which made me nervous because he's usually the calm optimistic one in the family.
Our little stinker is so far back, and he (I'm convinced it's a boy) was so squirmy it was hard to hear the heart beat. (Awesome, another off the wall energetic child!) Once she saw where the baby was, she jabbed that machine in my stomach so hard to pick up the sound. Fhhheeewww. That was the best sound EVER.
So, the positive of this situation.... We were able to see the baby today. AND, if he continues to hide in my back, it will be a painful pregnancy but we might get to see him more often on the screen!

Scary.

I think pregnancy is one of the scariest times of my life. There are so many thoughts that have been running through my head. When I first heard I was pregnant I was terrified with the timing. Now I am so excited. The timing will work out just fine and we couldn't be happier about growing our little family. Now I have other things to be scared about.
Friday afternoon I started to get some super bad cramps. I tried to brush it off. I have also had some wierd blacking out that has made me nervous. There is a lot going on in my body right now. Maybe the pain is just my uterus growing or moving. Could it be that massive clump of cysts I have on my ovaries causing some cramping? I also have a condition called interstitial cystitis. In English that means a cronic bladder infection. I was diagnosed with it when I was 18 and it's so much fun (sarcasim).
Anyway, I was trying to come up with any reason in the book why I way cramping. Anything other than something being wrong with the baby. Well, Saturday morning rolled around and it was SO MUCH WORSE. Andrew was working and I was trying my best not to let him know how bad it was so he wouldn't worry. I was in bed a good part of the morning. There were times I laid there thinking "if I have to go to the hospital, Andrew can meet me there but who am I going to call to come get Warren?" It was that bad. I didn't even shower until 10am and for anyone who knows me, you know that means something was way off. If I am in bed past 7am it's been a late morning. I just couldn't get going. So, I tried to survive the morning and tried to keep Warren as happy as possible while feeling like crap.
I had a baby shower to go to at 11:00. If it hadn't been such a good friend, I would have missed it. But I wanted/needed to be there. So I got in the shower and made an attempt to get ready. At this point I hadn't cried at all. Andrew got home around 10:45am and said the words that will always make a woman cry. "Are you ok?" He didn't even really know what was going on, just that something was going on. I lost it. I cried so hard for like 10 minutes and couldn't even tell him what was going on. Finally I let him know how scared I was. As always, he knew exactly what to say. He calmed me down, and helped me get ready so I could get out the door.
Having a baby growing inside of you, but not knowing how it is doing is so scary to me. I all day long I wonder if it's little heart is stil beating. Is it growing the way it should? Am I doing everything I should be doing?
So, I made it to lunch with my friends. When they asked how I was feeling I told them I was cramping and their faces kind of looked concerned. They told me to call the doctor. But it's a Saturday...... I know there is that on-call Doctor option, but I always feel silly bothering them with something like this. I was reminded how much we pay them and that a phone call shouldn't be a concern.
I got in my car after lunch and decided to call. What could it hurt... right? The after hours service asked me a few questions then told me the oncall doctor would get back to me shortly. About an hour later (does that count as shortly?) I got a call. Here's how it went:
Doc: "Hi, this is doctor so and so (he was so grumpy I couldn't understand what his name was) you paged?"
Me: "Oh, hi. Thanks for calling back. Sorry to bother you on a Saturday, I am just a little concerned right now. I'm 14 weeks pregnant and have had some super cramping for about a day now."
Doc: Is this your first pregnancy?
Me: No, second.
Doc: Are you bleeding?
Me: No. But I have been blacking out. 4 times this week.
Doc: Well, do you think that is realted to the cramping?
Me: (IN MY HEAD I THOUGHT, I don't know you grumpy SOB, you tell me!) But, the polite me said, I'm not sure. I've had enough to drink and eat. I just don't know what's going on.
Doc: If you're not bleeding, and don't have chills your probably just tired. Stay in bed as much as possible, stay hydrated and call your own doctor on Monday to follow up.
Me: Ummm, ok. Thanks.
Doc: Sure, click.

What a d-bag. Just because you have the word doctor infront of your name it doesn't give you the right to act better than everyone else. I am sorry if I interupted your ski day, or round of golf or whatever the heck you were doing, but I am a patient who needed some help and he didn't have to be such a jerk. Honestly it took so much for me to even call in the first place. I can't wait to tell my doctor on Monday what an a-hole he has on his on-call list. And, if something is wrong with this baby that doctor will hear from me again, but not the polite me.

So, here I am. Sunday morning. Still scared. But without bleeding apparently they don't want to check you out at the hospital. After all of this, it's probably nothing. Just my overactive mind making it worse than it really is. I guess we will see tomorrow when I get to see my real doctor.

Is it normal???

Is it normal to have random black outs while you are pregnant? I was standing in line at McDonald's yesterday and could feel myself getting close to passing out. I sat at a table and laid my head down. I blacked out for a minute then I was fine. The same thing happened to my this morning. I can't remember this happening with my last pregnancy. Is it normal?

I got punk'd

So last week I hit the wonderful second trimester mark. You know, the one where you are supposed to feel your best. I really thought I had made it over the hump. I was feeling great. I didn't even feel pregnant for about 4 days. I felt normal. I even played golf!! I was SO excited to be over the nausea, tired, grumpy rut I was in. Well, I got punk'd. For the past 4 days I feel like crap. Tired, like I want to barf all day, grumpy. irritable and worst of all FAT. I really look like I have just put on 10 lbs. of fat, not pregnant. Not a fun place to be.

Just Ugly.

I am having a very ugly day today. My pants are getting tighter by the minute, so I feel super fat. I have more zits now than I did in high school. My skin is whiter than snow. At least I just got my hair done, lashes dyed and brows waxed. It helped a bit, but I still feel like I want to climb in a hole and hide for the next 6 months.

Of course, today would be the day.

When I was pregnant with Warren, I didn't throw up once until after I had him. Then I threw up for 4 days straight. It was awesome... (sarcasim). This pregnancy has so far been much the same. Just feeling like I am going to throw up all day, but never do. Well, this morning it all changed. And of course it had to be today. I got up extra early to get out the door on time because we had a board meeting at work. I was feeling super sick, hot and dizzy. I tried to eat a banana to help my stomach, but it did the opposite. About 5 minutes later, it came back up. Luckily I didn't get anything on my clothes. So.... a little tooth brush, a make-up touch-up and I was out the door. I still feel like crap though.

Little Reminder

With this pregnancy I really haven't been "sick". I hear the horror stories of some girls who throw up 20 times a day. I haven't thrown up at all. I have had days where I feel like I am going to throw up all day, but never do. I have felt exhausted but nothing I can't handle. I was feeling great last week. Almost to the point it worried me. If I was feeling ok, was something wrong with the baby? Yesterday I had a nice reminder that I'm pregnant. I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. I did manage to get some shoes on long enough to make it to my in-laws for a quick dinner. It was a horrible day, but a good reminder.
